Don’t Miss Out: State GAC Day for Credit Unions

Now is the time to register for the state GAC/Grassroots Academy, which will be held on January 29th for its 11th anniversary. The state Legislature resumes on Monday, and with the large number of new legislators coupled with new statewide leadership in several posts, it will be a chaotic session packed with legislative issues of interest to credit unions. This event is the window to learn about those issues and people, and what credit unions can do to impact them.

Attendees will hear firsthand from state leaders on what to anticipate in the legislative arena, gain the insider’s perspective on the political environment, and obtain tools to grow their credit unions’ legislative influence. Participants in the 2019 Academy will learn from:

  • Phil Kent, CEO and Publisher of InsiderAdvantage and regular panelist on the Fox5 TV show “The Georgia Gang”for a deep dive into the new leadership of Georgia, the new political dynamics of the state, post-election thoughts and trends, and the unfolding legislative agenda of both parties and the potential impact on businesses
  • Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Finance Kevin Hagler and Deputy Commissioner Melissa Sneedon what credit unions can anticipate from the Department and the state legislative process in the upcoming year
  • Atlanta Journal-Constitution veteran political reporter Jim Gallowayon his perspective of covering the Capitol, what political forces are in play, and how those impact the state
  • Speaker of the House Chief of Staff Spiro Amburn for personal insight into the leadership of the state, and what is in the future for Georgia
  • Senate President Pro Tem Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) on the state legislative session and his viewpoints from this top leadership role in the Senate
  • House Minority Caucus Chairman James Beverly (D-Macon) on the legislative process and the focus of the Democratic Caucus in the House
