Urging Congress to Act on Regulatory Relief

In an effort to keep the regulatory relief at the forefront with Congress, GCUA has joined with the Georgia Bankers Association and the Community Bankers Association in a joint letter urging the Georgia members of the U.S. House to vote for S. 2155 that passed the U.S. Senate. This joint letter, along with the recent Atlanta Business Chronicle article that cited all three state financial industry trades, is a strategic effort to draw attention to the need for this measure to pass, as there are considerable challenges ahead of this bill’s path in the House that could easily disrupt the delicate balance in this bipartisan regulatory relief measure. Credit unions, Leagues and CUNA continue to push for the bill with legislators and media to keep the need for the legislation at the forefront.

It still remains unclear what the House intends to do with the bill (as they have already passed their version of regulatory relief in H.R. 10 previously). Any changes to S. 2155 could easily derail the bill completely, and as such it is important to keep a consistent message to Georgia’s delegation. You can join in this effort – it may take weeks for the situation to resolve, and you can make a difference by joining GCUA and GBA in urging Congress to act; you can reach out to encourage members of the U.S. House to vote YES on S. 2155 here today!
