Politics is…well, political and contentious at times. However, politics and the actions of legislators have a direct impact on how people access your credit union, what services they can receive from you, and if credit unions can even exist. As such, it’s important to know the people and issues that impact credit unions. But how does one go about educating the board and/or staff in an easy way? One example is this Creating Influence newsletter. Another one of the many tools available are the legislator profiles; these documents help illustrate the direct actions legislators take on the issues of key importance to the industry in a quick, concise manner:
- To see the Federal Profile and how 16 members of Congress from Georgia vote on credit union bills, please click here.
- To see the State Profile and how the 236 members of the State Legislature vote on credit union bills, please click here.
During the last election cycle there were credit unions that shared this level of detail with their boards and staff to help encourage voter turnout in key races, and illustrate how elected leaders impact what credit unions can do today and in the future. Please use them for your team!
