Hearing from the Top State Leaders at Eggs and Issues Breakfast

On January 16th credit union representatives and GCUA joined the thousands of business leaders, state legislators and local officials at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Eggs and Issues breakfast. This event is the unofficial kickoff to the legislative season, and at the credit union table were State Representative Brian Prince (D-Augusta), Chuck Head-Atlanta Postal CU, Megan Contreras-Atlanta Postal CU, Bob Manning-Delta Community CU, Robin Ralls-Delta Community CU, and GCUA.

Attendees were treated to insight from newly elected Governor Brian Kemp (R), newly elected Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan (R), and the re-elected Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge). The three presentations highlighted the priorities and initiatives of their offices for the next few months, including rural development, freight transportation, health care, school safety, education and teacher pay increases, as well as insight into the temperament of the legislative session. From a credit union perspective, this breakfast is a good window to glean what may be pursued by these three power players in state government from a legislative perspective, to be seen by other industries to grow the influence of credit unions, and to connect with legislators. Thank you to the credit unions for representing the industry at this event!
