Credit unions from across the state will be traveling to Washington, D.C., for the annual Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), which begins on February 26th. This conference also involves “Hike the Hill” visits with members of Congress to promote credit unions. These meetings are instrumental in sharing the credit union perspective on issues and pursing legislation to benefit the industry. Thank you to those traveling to D.C. to lobby on behalf of the 2 million members. Some tools for anyone attending the GAC (or those who want to get a sense of what it’s like):
- To get a sense of the issues credit unions are discussing with members of Congress, please go to the legislative micro site that is utilized to help educate members of Congress on the key points for credit unions.
- For those traveling AND tweeting, please link @GCUAGov on your Twitter posts and utilize the hashtag #CUNAGAC – and if you aren’t attending you can still see the event as it unfolds by following @GCUAGov on Twitter.
- Never “hiked the hill”? Watch this quick video for the tips and tricks to make the most out of your experience.
Special thanks to all the credit unions attending that meet with the members of Congress, as well as all the Georgia credit unions statewide who updated their membership numbers with Project ZipCode to illustrate the presence of credit union members in the district!
