Save the Date for the Credit Union Regulator Dialogue

Save the date!  A unique opportunity is on the horizon for credit unions on March 19th; the new NCUA Regional Director for the Southern Region office, Keith Morton, and Department of Banking and Finance Commissioner Kevin Hagler will be in Atlanta to hear from Georgia credit unions.  This special meeting is organized to provide an easy venue for open dialogue between both the federal and state regulators and gain insight on the focus in the year ahead.  Regardless of your charter, size, or location, this will be an ideal window to discuss the regulatory issues facing your credit union.  Registration information is forthcoming; for any questions please contact Cindy Connelly at cindyc@gcua.org.

Timing is right on the heels of the CUNA GAC meeting, but is ideal from the perspective of change on a federal level, and what could be seen for both federal and state-chartered credit unions. With the recent presidential nomination of Todd Harper to serve as one of the NCUA board members on February 1st, it will be interesting to see if his nomination and that of Rodney Hood, who was re-nominated earlier this year, are confirmed by the meeting (since they have their confirmation hearing scheduled for February 14) and what if any changes NCUA anticipates.
