Creating Influence

Credit Union Advocacy: Northeast GA Chapter Focus on What Matters Collectively to CUs

Being involved in advocacy is what makes the difference in legislation – efforts seen at Hike the Hill meetings in Washington, D.C., in-district meetings with legislators, engagement with campaigns. But a big part of being effective in advocacy is having a broad understanding across the industry about the issues that impact credit unions, and what credit unions can do to shape them. On November 14th the Northeast GA Chapter held an advocacy-focused meeting to discuss the issues that impact credit unions on a federal and state level, from what’s happening right now in Congress to what is anticipated in the upcoming state legislative session.

Many chapters across Georgia have done similar meetings during the year to gain insight into the legislative forces, and share among a wide audience what they as credit unions can do to shape their future. Our thanks to the Northeast Chapter for their warm hospitality and having this meeting, as well as the other chapters who have done so in 2017. If your chapter is interested in pursuing an advocacy-focused meeting topic in 2018 please reach out to GCUA and we will be happy to help.
